Learning Management Systems

Learning Management Systems (LMS)

What is a LMS? A Learning management system (LMS) is a software platform that allows training, teaching and interactive presentations to be delivered over the internet. Think outside of the brick and mortar classroom, learning happens everywhere, at any given moment, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Let me help you build your LMS so your students can participate in discussion boards, upload and share homework, and pace themselves through your class at any given time. While there are many more LMS available to the world today, Canvas is NC approved LMS and Google Classroom is also a great option that I can provide PD on.

Canvas

Canvas is the newly adopted Learning Management System for the state of North Carolina.  Canvas connects directly to PowerSchool and the teachers classes and rosters will pull automatically from PowerSchool for creation.  Teachers can create announcements, assignments, modules, and quizzes for students within Canvas and all grades from Canvas will talk directly to PowerSchool.

Google Classroom

Google Classroom was announced in the summer of 2014 and has been growing ever since.  Teachers can create classes and students can join their classes with a code that is given to them from the teacher.  Teachers can post announcements and assignments for students.  Students can turn in their work seamlessly using their Google Apps for Education account and teachers can grade and return work directly to the student.
